On October 15, 2024, our partner ZAG, the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, celebrated its 75th Anniversary with an Open Day at its headquarters in Ljubljana and the Fire Laboratory in Logatec. As one of Slovenia’s prominent events in the construction and civil engineering sector, the Open Day offered an array of interactive and educational experiences for visitors.
The event featured guided tours with eight stops showcasing ZAG’s diverse projects, from chemical experiments and road measurements to microtomography and an engaging 3D printing demonstration, where two segments of a safety wall were printed. Attendees also participated in air pollution measurements and a sand and paper construction challenge. At the Fire Laboratory, a specialized tour highlighted large-scale fire testing facilities, giving insights into fire safety research.
As part of the day’s activities, CIRCUIT was part of a session and also presented a poster detailing its innovative 3D printing demonstration. The poster illustrated how 3D printing technology can play a crucial role in making building processes more efficient and eco-friendly, supporting CIRCUIT’s commitment to sustainable construction practices.
The Open Day attracted more than 30 visitors from various companies, research institutes, and municipal organizations. Attendees showed strong interest in the CIRCUIT project. Overall, ZAG’s Open Day provided a valuable platform for professionals in engineering, construction, and material science to connect and share insights into the latest advancements in sustainable infrastructure.
